BIOGRAPHY

I was born one wintry, February morning in 1955 at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis. We lived in Burnsville and I spent my earlier years hanging around horses at a farm that was a short distance from our home. My parents, who had five kids, encouraged adventure in each of us. I was either climbing in tree's, exploring the woods, bringing home black and white "kitties" which were in fact skunks, bringing a varity of bugs home in a jar for mom to see, playing night games with the neighborhood kids, or just keeping out of "mom's hair".   

By fourth grade, our family had other plans, and we moved to Windsor, Ontario, Canada where I spent my elementary years. I learned French, made some cool Canadian friends, and spent many days playing hockey on all the winter canals and summer streets. Skating on figure skates still gives me trouble!

We returned to Minnesota during my High School years where our family settled just south of the Twin Cities.  I worked, went to college, got married, and am currently living on a beautiful lake north of the Twin Cities. After working for more than twenty years along side my super sweet husband, I decided it is no better time than the present to live my dream. Here's some more fun fact's you may not know about me...

MY ARTIST STATEMENT

I have the best job in the world! Being artistically creative has always been a part of who I am. My studio is where I can be myself and paint what I love. I have a Working Studio where I enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of being a full-time artist.

My creative process starts with an idea and an intention. I consider myself an "Expressionistic Colorist". I use intense color to evoke emotional responses from those who view and collect my art. I paint with heart-felt emotions, laying them down onto my canvases with bold, bright, beautiful colors that bring my paintings to life.

I paint several paintings in the course of the day-all different subject matter, sizes and levels of completion.  This keeps me from becoming too focused on one painting and helps me to paint loose and free.

For larger paintings I am usually on the floor on my knees as this position helps me to "see" the painting better. I made a large, flat cardboard easel with wheels that spins on the floor so I can be in one postition, turn the painting around, and paint wherever I want.  

My style is contemporary, expressively painted in intense color.  

My goals are to create positive, lively works of art about everyday life that are hopeful, inspirational and lighthearted for my collectors and viewers. I feel happy when people chuckle, smile, and enjoy a good laugh after seeing my work.  My other greatest joy is educate and inspire art students and artists to enjoy their artistic journey and to find their own creative voice.

I get my inspiration from people I meet, places I go, and things I experience.  I live my life and express it with color, paint, brushes, canvas-but most of all-my heart!
