Biography

I was born one wintry, February morning in Minneapolis, moved to Burnsville, and spent a lot of time hanging around horses at a farm that was a short walk from our home.  My parents, who had five kids, encouraged adventure in each of us, and I was either climbing  in tree's, exploring the woods, playing night games with the neighborhood kids, or just keeping out of "mom's hair".   

By fourth grade, our family had other plans, and we moved again, and I spent my elementary years in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I learned French, made some cool Canadian friends, and spent many days, playing hockey in the summer streets, or on all the winter canals.  Still can't skate very well in figure skates!

We then returned to Minnesota during my High School years where our family settled just south of the Twin Cities.  I worked, went to college, got married, and am currently living on a beautiful lake north of the Twin Cities. After working for more than twenty years along side my super sweet husband, I decided it is no better time than the present to live my dream. Here's some more fun fact's you may not know about me...

My Artist Statement 

I have the Best Job!  My studio is where I can be myself and paint what I love.  Being artistically creative has aways been a part of who I am. 

My creative process starts with an idea and an intention.  My art has to have what I call, "Emotional Expression", so that whatever I paint evokes an emotional response from the viewer.  I paint with heart-felt emotions, laying them down onto my canvases with bold, bright,  beautiful colors that  bring my paintings to life.

I start the day in the studio with a good cup of coffee,  my journal, and  my sketchbook. I draw, think, dream, sketch, write and just goof off!   Fast and free warm ups come next,  where I paint "mini" paintings, working several at a time.  Then, onto the most fun - painting those pieces that I love so much - paintings from my heart! 

I live intentionally, enjoying each day and each moment in time.  I am light-hearted, love to laugh, and full of fun. I paint what I love and what stirs my heart. It is inspiration, love, and hope which gives me my ideas and my creative expression.

See the silver bust in the background? I made that in 10th grade. I still have it!  My teacher, James Loso, from Lakeville High School was  instumental in teaching me a variety of mediums in my earlier high school art classes.  This particular piece of artwork is a reminder to me of where I have been and motivates me to where I want to go in the future.  Find out about all the fun happening In The Studio!
