BIOGRAPHY

I was born one wintry, February morning in 1955 at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis. We lived in Burnsville and I spent my earlier years hanging around horses at a farm that was a short distance from our home. My parents, who had five kids, encouraged adventure in each of us. I was either climbing in tree's, exploring the woods, bringing home black and white "kitties" which were in fact, skunks, playing night games with the neighborhood kids, or just keeping out of "mom's hair".

By fourth grade, our family had other plans, and we moved to Windsor, Ontario, Canada where I spent my elementary years. I learned French, made some cool Canadian friends, and spent many days playing hockey on all the winter canals and summer streets. Skating on figure skates still gives me trouble!

We returned to Minnesota during my High School years where our family settled just south of the Twin Cities. I worked, went to college, got married, and am currently living on a beautiful lake north of the Twin Cities. After working for more than twenty years along side my super sweet husband, I decided it is no better time than the present to live my dream. Here's some more fun fact's you may not know about me...

MY ARTIST STATEMENT

I have the best job in the world! Being artistically creative has always been a part of who I am. My studio is where I can be myself and paint what I love. I have a Working Studio where I enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of being a full-time artist.

My creative process starts with an idea and an intention. I consider myself an "Expressionistic Colorist". I use intense color to evoke emotional responses from those who view and collect my art. I paint with heart-felt emotions, laying them down onto my canvases with bold, bright, beautiful colors that bring my paintings to life.

My studio is where I can think, work and dream! STUDIO PROCESS

I start the day in my studio with a good cup of coffee, my journal and my sketchbook. I draw, think, dream, sketch, write, and just goof off! Fast and free warm up's come next where I paint smaller paintings working several at a time.

I have several paintings that I work on at the same time-all different sizes and levels of completion.

For larger paintings that are more that 2' x 3', I am usually on the floor on my knees painting away-this position helps me to "see" better and I usually very physical when I paint on larger canvases and papers.

All of this keeps me from becoming bored and helps me explore new ways to create and paint.

I live intentionally, enjoying each new day! I am light-hearted and love to laugh. I paint what I love and what stirs my heart.

I get my inspiration from people I meet, places I go, and things I experience. I live my life and express it with color, paint, brushes, canvas-but most of all-
