Look for more MagelssenArt video's to come your way! Thanks for your interest in my video's. Comment and questions are always welcome.
Newest in the series- July 2011. In this video I add the finishing touches to Jazzy Java. Almost finished with four coffee cup paintings in acrylic. Just one more to go! Thanks for your interest in my video's. Comment and questions are always welcome.
Just released in May 2011-Here I am adding the finishing touches to "Divine Espresso". The first in a series of 4 each coffee cups in acrylics. Nothing like drinking buckets of coffee while I paint! I had alot of coffee before I recorded this video. Caffeine really affects me and makes me jittery. Maybe all that caffeine helps me loosen up. Ha!
Welcome to my studio and the fun stuff of studio life! In this video I am working on a series of 4 coffee cups in acrylic and this one is Part 3 of the first coffee cup painting. I have titled it- "Divine Expresso". I'll be posting more MagelssenArt video's soon! Thanks for watching.
Here I continue to work on the 1st coffee cup painting that I started earlier. You can see how it becomes brighter and bolder as I lay more colors down. Way too much fun!
Fun stuff of Studio Life! Here I am working on #1 of 4 each 18x18 inch Acrylic on canvas, Coffee Cups Series. I first lay down color and then paint in the shapes. Having a blast!
Using my Robert Burridge "Goof Proof Color Wheel" I am sure that all of my paintings will come out "GOOF PROOF". It really works! This is number 2 of 4 coffee cup paintings that I am working on. Way too much fun!
Painting #3 of 4 coffee cups in acrylic. These are on 18x18" canvas. These paintings are not completed but you can see how I start a series. When I get the "first layer" down, then I will come and paint all four with finishing touches.
The 4th painting in the series. This video gives the viewer an idea of how I tie all the paintings together with motifs, color and shapes and theme. The series is not finished and future video's will be posted online-each with it's own finishing touches! I can't decide which one I love the best. Stay tuned!
Here I am painting with acrylic's on black canvas! Just another day in the studio. I have titled this one-"Steamin' Hot Coffee".
I am working on a series of coffee cups for a Cafe. I paint these "sketches" and then I will go on to larger pieces using these smaller pieces as a guide. I get a lot of painting done this way!
Some artists call it an "Old Dog", some a "Reject", and others call it a "Mistake". I don't see these paintings as mistakes, rejects or old dogs, but another way to better painting. A "dud" is a painting that is similar to a firecracker that refuses to "POP!" It is not a bad thing. It is what it is.
I recycle as much as possible in my home and studio and that applies to my paintings. The best way to conteract a dud painting is to paint another painting over it! Using "Gesso" to the rescue I know that nothing goes to waste.
In this video, I've painted a loose, watery coating of black gesso over a painting being careful to leave some color from the former painting coming through. This creates transparency and let's the colors below shine through. I didn't want to cover that wonderful bright orange and blue. I love what I can do with acrylic's. I can create transparency and opaqueness in the same painting. This is called, "One Tall Mocha" and is part of the series I am doing for a cafe. Next time, you will see a larger version. Ta-Ta for now. See you soon!
